When to go
Recent rainfall influences tracks, vegetation and wildlife distribution. Drier periods may simplify parts of the road plan, but no month guarantees tree-climbing lions or a particular channel sighting. Use the current conditions at your selected base to shape the drives.
Boat trips depend on the operator’s timetable and conditions as well as your accommodation booking. Reserve the departure you need and clarify the cancellation process. If travelling in a wetter period, ask which routes between park areas remain sensible rather than assuming the shortest map line will be the best road.

How to get there
The road approach can fit a western circuit through the Fort Portal and Kibale area or a different route from the capital. Give the operator the full sequence so that it can estimate actual transfer days. A drive to the park boundary does not end the journey to every lodge.
If flying, match the landing point to your base and intended activities. A convenient airstrip for a northern stay does not automatically simplify an Ishasha visit. Ask whether a transfer is direct or includes game viewing, and whether extra entry or guiding charges apply.

Where to make your base
For Kazinga Channel and northern-area drives, choose a base that makes those activities practical. If Ishasha’s landscape and lion interest are central, consider a separate stay there rather than a rushed return excursion from far away.
Ask how meals fit the boat timetable and whether shared drives limit your choices. A room with a wide view can be appealing, but the real value of the base comes from reducing unnecessary backtracking. Confirm whether park entry is included for every relevant day and how it is charged.

Wildlife, crowds and road conditions
Tree-climbing lions are associated with Ishasha, but neither their location nor behaviour is guaranteed. A guide should be able to make the area interesting without claiming a particular animal will be in a particular tree. The channel similarly offers observation opportunities rather than a wildlife performance.
Do not confuse Kyambura chimpanzee tracking with a generic game drive or with Kibale’s permit product. It has its own reservation, rules and pricing. If chimpanzees are the main purpose of the holiday, compare the specific experiences and availability before treating them as substitutes.

A useful day on the ground
A balanced day might pair one focused drive with a separately reserved channel boat trip, provided transfer and meal times fit. Ask the guide to identify the habitats you will see and leave room for patient observation rather than a constant race between sightings.
For Ishasha, spend enough time in the area to enjoy its landscape and wildlife even if lions remain hidden. If the visit is also an onward transfer towards Bwindi, be honest about the amount of actual game viewing that remains after the road journey.

What the price should include
Ask for a written breakdown that separates accommodation, transport, entry and optional activities. A room price alone does not establish whether meals, guiding, vehicle use or transfers are included. Check which costs are per person, per vehicle or per booking before comparing two totals.
The public sources linked below do not establish a universal current price for every local activity. Where an amount is not confirmed, obtain a dated quotation from the authority or the service provider. Keep its cancellation terms with the booking, including the procedure if weather changes the activity.

How it fits into a route
Kibale and Bwindi make Queen Elizabeth part of a varied western circuit of chimpanzees, savanna and gorillas. The Bwindi sector controls the final approach, so choose it before finalising the park sequence.
Murchison Falls is a different northern safari option and adds distance if included as well. For a shorter trip, compare one savanna park used well with both parks squeezed between primate permits. The route should serve your interests rather than a maximum park count.

Questions & answers
Are tree-climbing lions guaranteed in Ishasha?
No. The association is real, but animals and their behaviour cannot be scheduled.
Is the Kazinga Channel boat included in entry?
Do not assume so. Confirm the operator, departure, ticket and inclusion separately.
Can one lodge serve every park area equally well?
No. Match the base to the areas you want to visit and consider a separate Ishasha stay if it is central to the plan.
Is Kyambura the same as Kibale chimp tracking?
No. They are different locations and separately booked products with their own conditions.
What entry figure should I budget?
The UWA park page displays USD 40 for a foreign nonresident adult. Its general tariff document has an expired date range, so confirm the payable rate for your booking.
